Occasional notes from a growing media and community ecosystem for the ecovillage and intentional communities movement. New issues, what we're publishing, and what's emerging across the field.
The Magazine
A printed home for the stories and tools emerging from ecovillages and intentional communities, returned to the people who carry them. Each annual volume gathers practitioners, researchers, and artists around a single theme, and holds resources for people whether they are new to the movement or a seasoned communitarian. Slow craft, made to last.

Support us by sharing our work and the magazine with communities you know and love, those interested in regenerative living, and friends who belong here.
Each volume of Heart of Ecovillages is structured around four recurring sections, four rooms that communities gather in to learn, to share, to create. Together they form a complete picture of regenerative community life, from the practical to the poetic.
Issue 1
Our debut issue explores how communities draw their edges and open their gates. The dance of who is in, who is out, and how a community holds its shape while staying porous to the world. We launch July 2026 at the European Ecovillage Gathering in Bavaria. Pre-order now.
Intentions: About Heart
Heart exists to integrate the ecovillage and intentional communities movement, and to return the voices of its members to the field. We translate across networks and traditions to make the wider movement visible to itself. The magazine is our first artifact.
Members, builders, and wisdom-keepers of ecovillages, and the people drawn to community as a human birthright and systemic response to the metacrisis.
Translating between the islands. From Findhorn to Plum Village, Sættedammen to Agartha, making the wider movement visible to itself.
Practitioners, researchers, and artists from across the movement. Written from inside the field, not from above it.
Heart of Ecovillages was born from a simple conviction: the stories and tools emerging from ecovillages and intentional communities deserved a home of their own.
We document the extraordinary experiments in regenerative living: people building new ways of being and systems to share resources, resolve conflict, grow food, and raise children together.
But the wider movement is also dispersed. From established federations like GEN to emergent networks like Agartha, from legacy ecovillages to extitutional prototypes like Feytopia, beautiful experiments unfold in parallel, often unaware of one another. Each year at the European Ecovillage Gathering, hundreds meet, resonate, and feel briefly held by a larger field. Then everyone returns home to their own island.
Heart exists to address that scattering. The deeper work is to weave the dispersed field into one visible movement, and to return its voices to the people who carry them. We're building a growing media and community ecosystem in service of that intent.
Each issue of our magazine gathers voices from across the movement (practitioners, advocates, researchers, artists) around a single theme. We print slowly, intentionally, and with care.

Contact or Collaborate with Heart
One inbox, many reasons to reach out. Tell us what's burning in your community, suggest a theme, offer a contribution, ask about partnering, or just say hello. We read every message.
Heart is becoming more than a magazine. The wider work includes themed gatherings where the field meets itself, micro-learning around each issue's theme, and a wayfinder pointing readers to the deep knowledge held across the network (Findhorn, Les Pas-Sages, Plum Village, and others). We're building this slowly, with the field. If you want to help shape any of it, this is the door.
Partners
Heart of Ecovillages is built in partnership with organizations that share our vision of integrating the ecovillage and intentional communities movement and returning voices to the people who carry them.
The Global Ecovillage Network's European branch, the backbone of ecovillage coordination across the continent. GEN Europe hosts annual gatherings, regional councils, and curriculums that educates hundreds of community builders each year.
Heart's structural support partner: an international academy and advocacy network making cooperative housing and collective living more accessible. Active across France, Portugal, Germany, and Brazil, Les Pas-Sages empower groups globally to launch successful community projects.
Documentation and storytelling from living systems across Europe. ToGather shares Heart's mission of creating mirrors for the movement to see itself. We coordinate rather than collide, amplifying each other's work.
